Hastings Baseball Season Comes to a Close after Falling to Eagan in Section Contest

The Hastings baseball team’s season came to a close in the section lower bracket semifinals Monday against Eagan 6-1 as heard live on KDWA. The Raiders fell behind 1-0 after the Wildcats manufactured a run after a walk in the first inning, then after two quick outs in the bottom of the second, three straight walks and a bases-clearing single put them down 4-0 after the second inning. The Raiders found limited success at the plate scattering multiple hits, but Eagan plated another run in the fourth after another walk, when the Raiders struck for a run. Colton McKnight doubled to start the fifth, and was driven in on a Peyton Perseke RBI single to trail 5-1. Eagan plated another run in the sixth for insurance after a Raiders rally fell short on a diving play in the outfield that prevented two runs from being scored. Head coach Ryan Stoffel said this year’s seniors came in with a goal to have a turnaround season, and they accomplished that goal.

The Raiders ended the season with a 16-10 record, and graduate a senior class of 11.
