HEDRA to Discuss Downtown Hastings Development, Block 16’s Future

Here’s a preview of the Thursday, August 13, Hastings Economic Development and Redevelopment Authority meeting.

HEDRA will meet today at 6 p.m. in the Hastings City Council Chambers, with several items on the agenda, including two proposed façade improvement projects and a purchase agreement with Gregg Lowe.

The authority will also receive updates on local economic development efforts, including the Open to Business program, Block 28 — the Hastings Gateway — and other development projects.

One of the key topics will be the future of Block 16 and the Red Rock Corridor parking lot in downtown Hastings.

The 1.81-acre HEDRA-owned property includes a 100-stall parking lot and the Depot Park playground. City officials are looking at the site’s future potential and say community input will be important in identifying needs and priorities before any redevelopment concepts are developed.

Thursday’s meeting is an opportunity for the public to hear more about these potential planning efforts and other economic development activity in Hastings.
