Prescott Softball Wins Season Opener, Hastings Baseball in Action Today

We continue to battle the spring weather, with the temperatures briefly reaching the 50’s on Sunday, but that trend is not likely to continue the rest of this week with cold, wind, and rain still potentially in the forecast, and already led to multiple cancellations on Monday including Hastings baseball vs Hill-Murray and Prescott Baseball vs River Falls. However, Prescott Softball still took place, as the Cardinals braved the cold and wind to take on Blair-Taylor.

The Cardinals scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning to get out in front after falling behind 1-0 in the top of the inning, then added another two runs in the bottom of the second inning to get ahead 7-1, and neither team would score the rest of the way. The Cardinals are now 1-0 on the season.

Coming up today if the weather continues to slightly improve, the Hastings boys and girls track and field teams will head to Tartan for a three-team meet including the host Titans as well as North St. Paul, beginning at 4pm, and the Hastings baseball team is in action in the game rescheduled from yesterday to today taking on Hill-Murray. The Raiders have had four game dates postponed or canceled due to the rain, but are hoping to get the season started today. The Raiders baseball game will be broadcast live on AM 1460 and FM 97.7 KDWA with myself Andrew Swadner on the call. Pregame coverage begins at 4:15pm, with first pitch scheduled for 4:30pm.
