Dakota County Commissioner Mike Slavik is officially running for re-election.
Slavik, who has served on the County Board since 2013, says he is seeking another term to continue what he describes as responsible fiscal management, support for public safety, and investments in infrastructure and quality-of-life projects throughout Dakota County.
In announcing his campaign, Slavik pointed to his experience guiding the county through years of growth and changing community needs. He said local governments are facing increasing challenges from state and federal mandates and argued that experienced leadership will be important in the years ahead.
Beyond his role on the County Board, Slavik currently serves as chair of the Vermillion River Watershed Joint Powers Organization and the Dakota 911 Board of Directors. He also recently completed a term as president of the Association of Minnesota Counties, where he worked with state leaders on issues affecting county governments across Minnesota.
As part of his re-election campaign, Slavik outlined several priorities, including protecting taxpayers through responsible budgeting, supporting law enforcement and emergency response services, maintaining roads and transportation infrastructure, encouraging economic development, preserving parks and natural resources, and planning for long-term county needs.
Slavik thanked residents of District 1 for their support and said he looks forward to continuing conversations with voters throughout the campaign.
