The Minnesota Judicial Branch is warning the public about a new text message scam spreading across the state.
Victims report receiving messages claiming they have an unpaid traffic violation.
The texts appear legitimate, often including a judge’s name, citation and case numbers, and instructions to resolve the supposed violation.
Do not click any links or send payment in response to these messages.
Anyone who believes they have been targeted or affected is urged to report the incident to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.
