William Beck is the Endorsed Candidate for Minnesota House District 41B

William Beck will run as the Republican candidate for the Minnesota House District 41 B. According to a media release, on Saturday, March 28, Beck received the unanimous endorsement of District 41 B Senate Republicans.

KDWA connected with William Beck for his reaction to the endorsement.

“It was such a huge honor. Great turnout for our convention. It was held at the Confluence here in Hastings—beautiful venue, lots of friendly faces from people around town and in Cottage Grove. There was no contested race. We voted on three races, House District 41A, House District 41B and then the Senate race as well. So, we voted by acclimation. It was a unanimous vote to endorse all three of our campaigns. So, such an honor, and I’m looking forward to campaigning with both Wayne Johnson and Tom Dippel going into November.”

Beck offers his campaign focus and explains why these issues matter.

“As you might know, I spent some time in the classroom, so I love alliteration. My primary focus will be on affordability, accountability and academic affordability, and that we’ve seen taxes and skyrocket over the last couple of years here in Minnesota, and even though property taxes are something the legislature has direct jurisdiction over. We should absolutely look at fixing the unfunded mandates that been passed down to school districts and municipalities that are forcing property taxes to go up.” William Beck continues, “when it comes to accountability, we’ve seen billions of dollars be stolen from the state government. We need to put more checks in place so that this can never happen again. And of course, we need to protect whistleblowers from being prosecuted unfairly before speaking out on this fraud. Then academic excellence. Of course, we want to support our schools, and we want to be sure that kids have the resources they need to be successful. Important thing to add would be securing grants for water treatment facilities in Hastings. I know the city has done a good job with trying to get all the grants they can, and if we need to look at a bonding bill for getting more money to cover that, we absolutely should. Is that fair to pass the cost down onto the people Hastings for new water treatment facilities? They didn’t create this problem. They shouldn’t have to pay for it.”

When asked about his campaign timeline, Beck says:

“Well, as far as I’m concerned, the campaign season has begun. You know, we’re not as busy as we’re going to be. I think things are really going to kick off this summer. But you know, every day I’m talking to, talking to and meeting new people, and it’s such an honor to be running for this position, and I’m ready to work hard.”

Beck has been having conversations with members of the public. When asked if he’s noticing a commonality in public concern, Beck says this.

“I’m happy to talk just general politics with people when I when I meet them, and you know, there’s some stuff going on the national level that I don’t have any control over, but when people talk about the fraud issue and the affordability issue, those are things that we can absolutely take a look at, at the state legislature, of course, you’ve heard that tax fees for cars are going through the roof. Some people are paying 1000s of dollars just to renew their cars registration, so that’s something we can definitely take a look at. And of course, the fraud issue, as I’ve mentioned, people want to know that their tax dollars are actually going to public services, not fraudsters. There’s a lot to do. People are really amped up about these issues, and I think there’s a lot we can do to fix them in St Paul.”
