The Miesville Mudhens completed their stellar weekend with a 22-2 thumping of their rival the Hastings Hawks on Sunday as heard live on KDWA and online on the KDWA YouTube page.

Miesville got started strong in the bottom of the first inning, with an RBI triple by Evan Nelson, an RBI single by Joey Werner, a Ronnie Sweeny two-run homerun on a mammoth blast to right field, a Marshall Gordon RBI single, a Max Gamm RBI single, an RBI fielder’s choice by Nelson after the Mudhen batted around, and scored on a wild pitch twice to lead 9-0 after the first inning.

Ronnie Sweeny continued to hit the long ball on a solo homerun in the second to make it 10-0, and that lead would hold until the fourth when the Mudhens would plate another on a Brock Rinehart sacrifice fly to lead 11-0.

The Mudhens again kept the bats rolling in the fifth with an Alex Hendrickson RBI single, a Joey Werner three-run homerun, a Marshall Gordon RBI single, and a two-RBI double by Brayden Baldock to lead 18-0. In the sixth Adam Tait hit a two-run homerun, a run scored on a double play, and Ryne Sprout drove in the final run. The Hawks scored two in the seventh, but that would end the game.

The weekend ends with Miesville winning against Cannon Falls on Friday and Hastings on Sunday with a combined score of 40-3, earning 40 hits in only 12 innings of batting as both games ended early before the bottom of the seventh. Miesville has now won seven in a row and sits at 10-2 overall and will next play against New Market on Wednesday. Highlights of the big weekend can be heard this week on KDWA.
