The Riverfront rehabbing has been a big part of our local news stories with many developments along the downtown. Nearby, the Hastings City Hall grounds are also experiencing some revitalization. As you cross the bridge into town, you may have noticed the work being done on the north side of City Hall around the Early Hastings metal sculpture. The piece, donated by Hazel Jacobsen Theel, is placed in the center of the lawn, and the work being done involves adding a curving path from the 3rd Street sidewalk which extends to the sculpture, then encircles it before continuing in a winding fashion up to the steps of the north entrance. Mike Likes, one of the landscapers in charge of the project talked with us near the completion of the piecework.
Likes also hinted at further work that will take place later this year.
