Hastings Bridge Site To Unite

The gathering that took place Friday night was arranged by those who wanted to show local law enforcement that they are appreciated and worth the time and effort it took for hundreds to fill the Hastings Bridge with a blue line of their own. The CandleLight to Unite project welcomed a steady stream of families and many officers including Chief Schafer and Mayor Hicks walked with blue balloons and signs of all kinds with messages like We Got Your Back , BLUE and Support our Officers. Once on the bridge a moment of silence was held before the release of those blue balloons filled the air. Passing traffic honked and flashed lights while darkness fell and flashlights and glowsticks waved high above the river. You can view the special sixteen squad pass in review video that was taken at the end of the event on the KDWA Facebook Page.
