A mid afternoon fire was reported in Hampton on Thursday afternoon, which had members of the Randolph-Hampton Fire Department battling flames that consumed the Naughty Pine Tavern in that town. The local building was fully engulfed in flames requiring the responding crews to fight it from the air atop the ladder truck, pouring water on the business also known as Frank’s Bar. According to reports, an individual was cutting metal in the basement of the establishment before the fire was noticed. Efforts were successful in keeping the fire from spreading to nearby buildings but an apartment and the business itself were a total loss. There were no injuries attributed to the blaze but two pet dogs did not survive. (photo credit Ken Haggerty)
