Kindness Continues UWH Success

The Acts of Kindness initiative that took place at Coborns Grocery in Hastings last weekend, was a successs, according to organizer and executive director of the United Way of Hastings, Mari Mellick. A small booth set inside the Hastings store on Friday and Saturday afternoon, was manned by volunteers and provided information on the Food 4 Kids program, an effort to supplement District 200 students with weekend food resources. Key item shopping lists described some of the items packed in the bags that are given to more than 100 students each Friday afternoon helping families feed children during the weekend. Mellick noted that nearly 300 dollars was collected that will be used to purchase kid-friendly food items for the bags. She thanked the volunteers and those who contributed food items or funds to the effort.
