The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will close its Minneapolis locks this Sunday, Nov. 19th. The Upper and Lower St. Anthony Falls lock and Lock and Dam 1, will be closed to commercial and recreational vessels. The remaining locks in the district, including Lock and Dam number 2 in Hastings, remain open until at least Dec. 12, when Lock and Dam 10, near Guttenberg, Iowa, will close for the season. This closure date is subject to change pending environmental factors – such as the formation of ice – that could dictate an earlier closure. The nearly 600 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response.
