On Saturday, April 12th, from 6pm – 9pm a benefit will take place for Laura Mech at the Cannon Falls High School Cafe and Atrium. Laura was diagnosed with breast cancer, and underwent a double masectomy. Despite the operation, cancer was still found in her lympy nodes and she had to go back into Chemo Therapy. She is now considered a “chemograd” but still has to take medication to prevent the cancer from returning. KDWA got in touch with Laura’s good friend and benefit coordinator, Emily Schoenfelder, to talk about the reasons for the benefit.
