Lisa Hedin has filed as a candidate for re-election to the Independent School District 200 school board. Hedin has been a School Board member since January 2012. She has served as Director and Clerk, and is currently the Vice Chair. She also serves on numerous committees within the School Board, including Facility, Joint Powers, Administrative Negotiations, Finance, Policy and Transportation. Hedin supports the current Vision 2025 initiative and has actively lobbied, both in person and through letters, for strong education funding. She is active in the Hastings community where she mentors and coaches with multiple local youth programs, serves on the Board of the Hastings YMCA, volunteers at Carpenter Nature Center and is active with the American Association of University Women. Hedin has been a stay-at-home parent since 2004, and prior to that time worked for nineteen years as a civil engineer, project manager, and senior administrator for the Corps of Engineers.
