Two finalists have been named by the Cottage Grove City Council for consideration as the next City Administrator. The two candidates were announced at the August 12th City Council meeting. One finalist is Jeffrey Dahl, the assistant city administrator and economic development director for Chaska since 2012 and city administrator and city planner for Osseo. from 2006 to 2012. The other finalist is Charlene Stevens who has served as the city administrator for Willmar from 2011 to 2015 and as assistant county manager for Sedgwick County, KS from 2006 to 2011. Cottage Grove attracted 26 candidates. Springsted, Inc., the executive search firm hired by the City Council, helped narrow the pool to 15 candidates. The Council appointed a four-member subcommittee to review the candidates and narrow the selection. The two finalists will go through an interview process with the entire City Council on August 19. Council is expected to decide between the two and negotiate a contract by September.
