Dale Lewis Wins People’s Choice Award

Hastings sculptor Dale Lewis has been honored with the People’s Choice award for one of his creations in the Sculpture Tour Eau Claire by that Wisconsin city. Lewis’12-foot tall Trojan Horse was awarded the major prize on October 22nd and will be purchased by sculpture tour sponsors and donated to the city of Eau Claire. The sculpture was first entered in to the Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Sculpture Walk before being transferred to Eau Claire through a partner cities program along with two other Lewis sculptures. This is the first time one of Lewis’ large sculptures has won an award. One of his small sculptures won in an indoor sculpture walk. Lewis said the People’s Choice award is the highest honor he could hope for. Lewis sculptures that can be viewed locally include the Pokey and Gumby in front of Breakaway Arts in Hastings, When Pigs Fly, The Pork Chopper can be seen at the River Falls, Wisconsin Library until November 25th, and his 25-foot long dinosaur sculpture, “Spinosaurus”, will be on display at the grain elevator in downtown Vermillion through the winter.
