For the past 33 years, parishioners of all ages at St John the Baptist Church in Vermillion have joined forces with many area parishes to donate Christmas gifts to support Catholic missionary efforts in Kentucky, a project originally headed by the Council of Catholic Women. The mission effort support over 600 families, youth, and the elderly who may not have the good fortune to receive any gifts at Christmas time. Last week, a group of parishioners packed the unwrapped gifts at St John’s into 30 boxes and 56 shoeboxes. They will now be loaded on a semi-trailer donated by Terminal Transport Company of Roseville and driven to the Pikeville and Beattyville, KY communities.
