Washington County Attorney Combats Sex Trafficking

Washington County Attorney Pete Orput has announced the formation of a partnership with local law enforcement agencies and social service organizations to combat sex trafficking . Sex trafficking has been identified as the top priority for the County Attorney’s Major Crimes Prosecution Section. Washington County Prosecutor Imran Ali has been appointed to lead the section. Some of the key actions undertaken as part of the initiative include: Creation of the Washington County Human Trafficking Unit, Coordination among partner organizations, Developing training materials and providing training for law enforcement, hotel staff, and others on how to recognize sex trafficking activities and potential victims, Reviewing closed and pending cases involving at – risk juveniles, Creation of a program to help identify and track potential victims of sex trafficking, and Increasing investigations and prosecutions on the demand side to reduce incidents of sex trafficking.
