Bridge Pieces Pass Hastings

A slow barge traveled thru Hastings on Wednesday morning loaded with eight supports for the St. Croix Crossing bridge now under construction near Stillwater. The concrete monoliths were manufactured near Grey Cloud Island and follow in the slow but steady procession around the bend of the Mississippi to join the St. Croix at Prescott, then continue to the staging site where the giant forms will be hoisted into place. The project has caused a great amount of interest and excitement as each piece makes its way to join the effort in once again spanning the great river and connecting Oak Park Heights, Minnesota with St. Joseph, Wisconsin.
