The 2016 award for Farm family of the year was presented by the Minnesota University Extension office during the recent Dakota County Commissioners meeting. The Regional Director of the University Extension for Dakota County, Tammy McAuliffe, describes the criteria for selction and the winners.
The Hmong American Farmers Association HAFA is a 155 acre research and incubator farm that is located in Vermillion township. They also maintain test plots and for the past 3 years, 18 families have contributed to the success of the farm.McAuliffe listed some of the practices that resulted in the honor.
The commission also heard about those leading the farm.
Vang then addressed the commissioners ,expressing his graditute.
