A further explanation was given by the City on the announced delay of the Vermillion River Regional Greenway Trail . As we reported earlier in the month, construction was halted in working with the bridge when it was determined in the field that bedrock elevations were not where they were expecting them to be for the center support pier. Since taking a step back, the design team and contractor were charged with exploring several alternative options for solving this challenge, and determined that the best solution was to modify the pier design to work with the context. The good news in the update is that the overall cost of the project will not change. The bad news is that the bridgework will now have to set the bridge next Spring instead of being able to do it this Fall.
