Empty Bowls Supper Wednesday

April 11th is the annual fundraiser, Empty Bowls, that is hosted by the Hastings Highs School Ceramics students. The event is held in the commons and begins at 5:30 pm. For a suggested $10.00 donation, you can select one of the hundreds of handmade ceramic bowls created by ceramics students, which will then be filled with delicious soup or chili. Following the meal, the bowl is yours to take home. Besides the meal, a silent auction and short presentation will be given on hunger in our community and throughout the world. The event is part of a global effort with similar fundraisers held in communities large and small that bring awareness to world hunger. Proceeds from the Empty Bowls event will be split between Hastings Family Service and Heifer International, a non-profit that sponsors the purchase of farm animals such as a flock of chickens, pair of goats, alpaca, sheep or cattle to supply 3rd world country families with a means to sustain themselves. The goal this year is to raise $4,000
