Opioid Forum May 1st

According to a press release issued by the Washington County Sheriffs office, last year, Washington County suffered 23 opioid overdoses. To combat this crisis, the Washington County Sheriffs Office, County Attorney?s Office, Local Law Enforcement, schools, the Know the Truth Prevention Program and other local organizations have all come together to facilitate a Community Forum on May 1st, from 6 to 8 PM at East Ridge High School, in Woodbury. The event is focused on building awareness of the local drug trends, specifically the opioid crisis, and the goal of these events is to bring the community together to learn ways to communicate with individuals who are struggling with substance use, and to develop tools to keep loved ones safe from the devastation that addiction can cause to a family and community.
The event is free to the public and offers CEU Credits for the Board of Behavioral Health, Nursing, Social Work and Education. Additionally, there will be a Resource Fair and a ?Cracking the Code? Exhibit featuring a teen bedroom with hidden dangers and a virtual jail cell giving attendees an opportunity to hear how quickly addiction can overtake someone?s life.
