Members of the Prescott Fire Department used a vacated home near the corner of Dakota Street and Cherry to practice on Monday evening, engaging responders in a variety of exercises that will provide authentic scenarios that could be encountered during a structure fire. Doors and windows were covered and vapor machines created smokey interiors, similar to what firefighters find when responding to a house fire. The structure is scheduled to be demolished soon to make way for economic development and parking in that area, but the training was conducted first to utilize the structure to the fullest.
