Last week, members of Hastings Partners in Energy team were awarded Partners in Energy?s 2019 award for teamwork and collaboration at a Community Summit. According to the City Council newsletter, the City of Hastings was accepted in February of 2018 to be part of Excel Energy?s Partners in Energy program. The Energy Action Team consisted of residents, City Staff, and Councilmember Tina Folch, along with representatives from Excel Energy, Dakota Electric, Citizens Utility Board, Hastings Environmental Protectors, CenterPoint Energy, Chamber of Commerce and local businesses. This team held several workshops and one focus group to discuss energy focused areas, concerns, and how to reduce energy consumption in the community. Earlier this summer the City Council voted to accept an Energy Action Plan created by this group of individuals.
