Prescott Council To Consider Festival Recommendation

The Prescott City Council will be asked to consider a recommendation that Prescott Daze organizers should convert to a non-profit apart from City auspices. The recommendation, submitted by the City’s insurance provider, states that, in the past, the provider had agreed to provide insurance for the event, with the understanding that the festival was a function of the City, with the organizing committee under the direction of the Common Council. The insurance carrier now recommends that the City relinquish all control of the festival to the organizing committee, who would then be solely responsible for funding the event, and obtaining special event insurance. The City would remain covered against the possibility of being named in legal action, but the Prescott Daze entity would have autonomy for festival functions, and be responsible for their own liability coverage.
