Hastings Police Officer Geoff Latsch recently conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Vermillion and 4th Streets. According to a report released via City Hall, the 39-year old female driver, who was from Texas, was found to be impaired and physically fought with police. She was arrested for 4th degree assault, obstruction with force, driving after suspension, and DWI. The passenger, a 39 -year old male from Cottage Grove, also fought with officers and was charged with obstruction. The report states that Officer Latsch received minor injuries. During the investigation, officers discovered evidence of check fraud reaching locally, to Texas, involving over 50 victims. The matter is still under investigation.
