Rosemount Buckthorn Removal

The City of Rosemount is working with Great River Greening to coordinate having a private contractor remove and control woody invasive species in Carroll?s Woods and Schwarz Pond Park. The focus of the project will be buckthorn removal. Work that is to be performed will have a visible impact on the parkland but it will have a positive impact on the natural environment. According to a City of Rosemount news release, buckthorn removal will start in mid to late November with hand cutting near the park property lines. Forestry mowing will begin once the ground is appropriately frozen to a minimum depth of 6 inches. The project is being funded by grants provided by the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council and Dakota County. Please call the Rosemount Parks and Recreation Department at 651-322-6000 with questions.
