Members of VFW 295, VFW 1210, American Legion, American Veterans, and Hastings Veterans Home, came together in celebration of Veterans Day, at St. John the Baptist Church, in Vermillion. According to veterans advocate Dean Markuson, approximately 100 were in attendance for the ceremony, which included the folding of the colors, honors, readings, and the in ranks inspection of the troops by the students. Markuson stated that the high point of the celebration was the honoring of a spouse, whose husband, a decorated World War II veteran, had passed away. His entire family was present and were presented a beautiful Arts and Crafts piece. Hastings Lyle Russell VFW Post 1210 received a personalized handmade card, with all of the signatures of the students.
