The Dakota Board of County Commissioners has just received clearance from the Mn Department of Health to release COVID-19 case numbers broken down by city. According to information released by Commissioner Joe Atkins, the official number of COVID cases in Hastings is currently listed at 19. In comparison to other communities in the KDWA listening area, Rosemount had 37 cases, and Farmington had 27. Previously, this data had been required to be kept confidential by MDH due to state patient privacy laws. However, the State has now authorized release of this data if there are more than 10 COVID-19 cases in each city and if they can protect privacy based on city size, which Commissioner Atkins said could be done.
