Minnesota Governor Tim Walz released his State bonding bill recommendations on January 18, which included $1.46 million for the Hastings Civic Arena renovation project that includes a new refrigerant system, replacement of the west rink roof, and adding rooftop solar panels. If awarded, this is half the project’s estimated cost. The bonding bill starts in the House and eventually works its way to the Governor’s desk. It is a long way from being approved, but the City says it is very encouraging to have the Governor’s support. The City of Hastings thanks the elected officials and hockey and skating supporters who advocated for this important project during the House Capital Committee visit in November.
