As winter comes to a close and spring conditions have begun, the City of Hastings will be putting load restrictions into effect, reflecting the order put in place by the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Minnesota Statute 169.87 dictates that all loads on paved roads within the City will be limited to 10 tons per axle during the Spring Load Restriction period unless otherwise posted. However, because many roads within the City have not been constructed for this heavier loading, the City is requesting that loads in excess of 5 tons per axle not utilize these streets. MnDOT, and in turn the City of Hastings, will be initiating spring load restrictions starting at 12:01 AM on Wednesday, March 16th. The city will be enforcing violations for hauling oversized loads on streets not designated for hauling during this time.
