Last week, KDWA radio was invited by Cycling Without Age-Hastings Area Rotary Club to experience the outdoor trails of Hastings via Trishaw. Cycling Without Age organizer Lon Peterson tells listeners what this program is all about:
Cycling Without Age (CWA), an international nonprofit organization based in Denmark. CWA-Hastings Area Rotary Club promotes the dream of providing elderly citizens the opportunity to experience the city and trails from the seat of a bicycle, sharing their stories, and feeling wind in their hair. Ultimately, this will build bridges between generations and reinforce trust, respect, and social glue in our community. Pilots are available to residents weekly at each of the following locations: Park Ridge of Hastings, Oak Ridge Assisted Living and Benedictine Living Community at Regina. They also service the Veterans Home. Lon Peterson explains:
If you are interested in taking a ride inquire onsite with the activities director. If you are a senior who is not living at one of the regularly visited locations you can still enjoy a free bike ride. For details or if you would to volunteer as a pilot email LonBPeterson@gmail.com or visit the CWA-Hastings Area Rotary Club website.
