Cannon Falls Shooting Update

Updating the report of a shooting in Cannon Falls on Wednesday, the Cannon Falls Police Department said in an updated news release that at approximately 5:05 PM on Wednesday, the suspect from the shooting was confirmed deceased from self-inflicted wounds, inside the residence. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Cannon Falls resident Dean I. Anderson, barricaded himself inside the home and refused to exit. He was reported to have access to multiple guns inside, according to radio dispatches. Two BearCat armored vehicles and a SWAT team responded, and eventually made entry to the home. The front windows of the home were removed by the BearCat as officers attempted to get Anderson to exit. Authorities said that there was police activity in the area for several hours that impacted street traffic in limited areas. The investigation of the incident took several hours to determine the details that led to the shooting. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Crime Scene Unit assisted the Cannon Falls Police Department in processing the scene. The female victim was treated and released from the hospital with non-life-threatening injury.
