The Hastings City Council approved the annexation of land on March 20 for the future Walden at Hastings Development. The approval extends the city limits to include the 71-acre parcel located at TH 316 and Michael Avenue. Developer Land Equity Development plans to seek future approval to construct a lifestyle development rental community to include 450 housing units comprised of single family, twin home, townhome, senior living and apartments. The developer will be preparing an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) to determine impacts of the development, including traffic. The Hastings Planning Commission and City Council will then review the EAW and future requests for development. Future actions by the City will be preceded by public hearing notices sent to owners within 350 feet of the project.
