US Club Soccer, a National Association member of the U.S. Soccer Federation, reports that an elite youth soccer player, 14-year-old Hastings resident Siena Sanchez, who plays for the Minnesota Thunder Academy, was one of only 18 girls players in her age group nationally to be selected to US Club Soccer’s ID2 (National Identification Development Program) National Selection team. The girl’s team competed in England, April 1st through the 10th, playing against academy teams in and around London and Manchester. According to the Federation website, the Girls Team logged a 4-0 record against Everton FC, Bromwich Albion FC, Haringey Girls Academy, and Oxford United. Siena was team captain for two games and scored two goals in the four total games.
