Donations Sought For Local Veterinarian

In early April, Charlie Gumbusky, local resident and veterinarian in Hastings, went to see the doctor for an illness he’s been dealing with for a few months and found out that he possibly had bone cancer in his femur. With Charlie’s high tolerance of pain, he held off on getting it checked out by doctors and has developed “holes in his bone”, according to a family friend. On Monday, April 17, Charlie went for what was supposed to be a biopsy of the bone so the doctors could see for sure what they were dealing with. The biopsy did not occur as Charlie’s leg was found to be fully infected with what is not bone cancer, but a rare infection, and the doctors are still uncertain what Charlie is dealing with. Charlie has worked 2 part-time jobs, one as a veterinarian at Town and Country Veterinary and one at the Animal Ark, both in Hastings. Charlie’s family and friends have set up a donation page at GiveSendGo.com, and any donations received will be used to help defray medical costs associated with treating his current condition. A link to donate is provided here.
