On August 15th & 16th, visitors at the LeDuc Historic Estate will be able to learn about the LeDuc family and their great interest in agriculture. It all started early in the life of William LeDuc as he grew up on a farm in Ohio. After the Civil War, he was appointed Commissioner of Agriculture by President Rutherford B. Hayes. LeDuc experimented with growing crops, such as tea, that normally would not survive in the Northern climate. Agriculture became a sustainable enterprise in the lives of the family as they grew and sold vegetables & fruits in their truck farming business. The LeDuc Historic Estate is located at 1629 Vermillion Street in Hastings.
