The July meeting of the Prescott School Board convened including newly installed Superintendent Rick Spiccuza. Board Chair Mark Helmers welcomed the audience to a start of a positive educational association and extended that welcome to new Student Member Andrew Taylor. One of the first orders of business was the acceptance of a resignation letter by April Schmitz, who cited family and health issues for her reason to step down. The letter was accepted by the board, setting in motion the task of increasing the number of vacancies on the board to two, the first being Dan Smaida, who moved from the district. Discussion then followed on how to publicize the 2nd open seat and the decision was made to post the vacancy in the media and on the school website. The deadline will remain July 31st and include both seats. Information on filing can be found on the District’s Website, www.prescott.k12.wi.us The new superintendent also made a statement on the goals that will be his focus as he leads the district.
