Funeral services were held over the weekend for former Dakota County Sheriff Rod Boyd. Rod passed away on October 5th, 2015. A longtime Farmington resident, Boyd was a member of the Farmington City Council as well as the Fire Department. Rod held a number of different positions with the Sheriff’s Department and served as the Dakota County Sheriff from 1975-95, elected to five consecutive terms. Rod was most proud of his work in helping design the Dakota County Jail using a new concept, and also in creating the Mounted Patrol.
