Fiery Crash Claims One

In local police updates, Cottage Grove Public Safety crews were dispatched at 12:30 am Saturday morning to the area near Innovation Road just south of Highway 61 at the report of a fire. Arriving on scene, police found a single vehicle that had crashed and rolled over into the field. The car was fully engulfed in fire. A search of the immediate area indicated that no one had exited the vehicle. A helicopter from the Minnesota State Patrol was sent to use thermal imaging cameras to re-search the area to confirm there were no victims ejected. Firecrews extinguished the blaze and found one person inside the vehicle that was deceased.The cause of the crash is currently under investigation aided by the Minnesota State Patrol.
