On Tuesday, at about 1 PM, the Cottage Grove Fire and EMS Department responded to a report of a burning smell in the basement of a home in the 7300 block of Irwin Avenue S. According to information released by the Department, the residents of the home were safely evacuated from the building, and fire crews were conducting a sweep of the home. No further information was made available, pending the results of the investigation.
