Although the fate of the Big Red Slide at Roadside Park in Hastings has already been sealed, the Parks and Recreation is working to find a new piece of playground equipment to install at the location. Parks & Recreation Operations & Maintenance Supervisor Cory Likes commented on the decision to remove it.
He also mentioned the major factors for damage of the slide.
Parks and Rec Director Chris Jenkins is working with a vendor to determine what should be installed, and the Department is cautiously hopeful for an answer by the end of the year, although no definite time frame has been set.
