Dakota County Berry Farmers To Be Recognized

Dakota County berry farmers Aaron Wills and Molly McGovern Wills, operating Little Hill Berry Farm, a diversified organic fruit farm in Dakota County, raising blueberries, raspberries and strawberries, are among eighty-five farm families and operations which will be honored in August by the University of Minnesota at the 2022 Farm Family of the Year ceremony, at Farmfest on August 4th in Redwood Falls. The Wills started their farm in 2011, planting their first 1,500 blueberry plants. Over the last 10 years, the couple has slowly transformed the gentle, rolling terrain of their farm from a corn and soybean field to a diversified fruit operation. Aaron and Molly are members of the Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota, the Minnesota Farmers Union, the Land Stewardship Project and the Organic Fruit Growers Association. Aaron has made many trips to the state legislature to talk to lawmakers about bills that affect local food systems and beginning farmers.
