The Prescott Police Department is currently investigating an incident of a person or persons defecating on the stairs leading to the Public Beach at some point during the last weekend. According to information released by the Department, sometime over the weekend a person decided to use the steps leading down to the beach, as well as the beach itself for their personal bathroom. According to Police, in the past two to three weeks, when the Department of Public Works has opened the bathrooms or cleaned them in the morning, there has been a substantial amount of needles, and odors of marijuana. Authorities say that if this continues the beach will be shut down. The Police Department has increased its patrols at the beach. Citations will be issued for any violations of ordinances or beach rules observed or called in.
