Last weekend’s “April Fool’s Storm” not only dumped a significant amount of snow in the KDWA listening area, but also caused a widespread interruption of power to residences and businesses in the area. In information released to the public, Excel Energy reports appreciation for their customers’ patience and understanding throughout the storm recovery efforts. 1,200 crew members worked through the weekend to restore service to customers. Excel said that 98% of storm-related power outages were restored by Sunday evening, for customers who can safely accept service. Remaining east metro outages were restored by early Monday evening. Customers with damage to their electric service mast should contact a licensed electrician, as repairs to the mast must be completed before service can be restored.
