There was a Prescott City Council meeting on Monday, December 8th.
From the “communications & new business” portion of the meeting, there was a look at the 2025 Façade Improvement Program. The program received three submissions: the locations are 115 Orange Street, 139 & 141 Broad Street, and 144 Broad Street.
All three projects are seeking window replacements, among other exterior improvements.
According to the city, the 2025 Façade Program has $50,000 available. The 144 Broad Street applicant stated their project is planned for spring of 2026, with an estimated completion date of autumn 2026. Following that information, commissioners recommended the top two projects be approved, which are 115 Orange Street and 139 & 141 Broad Street. Funding for these projects would be an estimated $34,000, leaving just over $15,000 to roll over for future projects.
However, 139 and 141 Broad Street is a historical building and required the replacement of both sets of arched windows to match the historic building façade. After staff spoke with the property owner, they discovered that the interior ceiling was lowered, and replacing the historic windows would mean significant interior work.
In a vote, the Prescott City Council approved the façade improvement program between the City of Prescott and Balsam Cabins & Pontoons LLC for 115 Orange Street.
The council called a motion to send 139 and 141 Broad Street back to the Planning Commission to discuss the window restoration. The motion was approved.
Also from the Prescott City Council meeting, there was also a resolution to amend the City of Prescott fee schedule for 2026.
According to the City of Prescott, some of the proposed change highlights will be:
Update the compost site by adding a residential fee of $20 as approved by the City Council. Nonresident permit fees increased from $20 to $55.
Increased the single daily use boat launch fee to $15, as approved by the city council for the 2026 budget. All other seasonal pass fees for the boat launch have stayed the same.
Revised the water utility fees to match the step 2 increases that were approved by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission in February. However, this is pending Wisconsin DNR approval because of the well #3 improvements. If approved, this would mean the tier 2 water rate increase would go into effect January 1, 2026.
