The Hastings baseball team mounted a stellar comeback to walkoff St. Thomas Academy Wednesday afternoon winning 6-5 after trailing by two runs as heard live on KDWA.
The Raiders fell behind giving up two runs in the second, but a Peyton Perseke RBI double cut the deficit in half, only to see the teams trade runs again in the third with Colton McKnight hitting an RBI single for the Raiders to trail 3-2 after the third. The Cadets added two more runs in the fourth to take a controlling 5-2 lead, and in the sixth the Raiders scored on a wild pitch to trail 5-3 going into the final half inning. Multiple walks and another wild pitch scored a run, and Joey Horton answered the call with runners on second and third hitting a two-RBI single to right field and the Raiders picked up a huge win. Carter Lundstrom pitched a complete game to earn the win on the mound, and Lundstrom and Horton gave their comments after the game.
Hastings softball took down South St. Paul in a thriller 7-6 on Wednesday. The Raiders improve to 4-6 on the season, and will take on Burnsville tonight.
