The Riverboat American Queen and the Queen of the Mississippi passed along the riverbanks this weekend, giving photo opportunities to several local residents. We talked with some of those who who gathered late Sunday night on the observation deck at Lock and Dam 2. Dan McGinnis had tracked the boat’s return from a port call in St. Paul and told us there is something missing from the arrival now.
We made a call to local Lockmaster Brian Grey and thru communication to the cruise line he brought us some information.
We then posed the question to Lt. Jim Rgnonti who had this to say.
Several people on the landing also remembered when the calliope played as it approached Hastings and we wondered it the late hour noise ordinance might come into play. Although the music was missing, we shouted our greetings to those assembled along the rail.
