The Miesville Mudhens survived a late scare on the road at Owatonna on Wednesday winning 13-7 as heard live on KDWA and the KDWA YouTube stream.
The Mudhens took a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning getting the scoring started on a Joey Werner RBI double, a Lucas McNellis RBI double, a two-RBI single by Marshall Gordon, and a bases-loaded walk. That score held until the sixth inning when they would plate two more runs on a wild pitch and an RBI groundout by Werner to lead 7-0 with the Mudhens seemingly in full control. But the Aces would not go away quietly, plating three runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit. Miesville scored a run in the seventh on an RBI single by Eddie Peine, and another in the eighth on an RBI single by Evan Nelson to lead 9-3, but Owatonna would plate four runs in the bottom of the eighth to cut it to just a two-run game with Miesville leading 9-7.
The Mudhens answered the call in the ninth however, scoring four more insurance runs with two runs scoring on an error, a Max Gamm RBI groundout, and an RBI bases-loaded walk by Peine to get to a 13-7 advantage and closed it out for the win.
Miesville improves to 10-0 in the section and 16-3 overall, and will play again on the road tomorrow at Dundas.
